Zena Edwards

Zena Edwards was born in Hackney, East London in 1969 and has been a professional writer/poet performer, creative educator and project developer after graduating from Middlesex University with a BA in Drama Media and Communication Studies in 2003. She also studied storytelling and performance at The London International School for Performing Arts. As a curator and producer of independent live and online events, Zena advocates climate and environmental awareness, equity and regeneration. Her writing and performance pedagogy is rooted in identifying the connection to the body, the imagination and the Earth. As a multidisciplinary collaborator, Zena has collaborated with The Last Poets, Hugh Masekela, choreographer Akram Khan (Xenos), Visual Artist – Theaster Gates (Soul Manufacturing Company).

Zena was recently commissioned to write and perform for Little Amal’s recent visit to London, April 2023, and will perform with her again in Trondheim, Norway.
