The Forward Prizes for Poetry Ceremony 2023

Join 2023 jury chairs Bernardine Evaristo and Joelle Taylor as they host the presentation of the UK and Ireland’s most coveted poetry prizes.

The Forward Prizes are an unmissable fixture on the literary calendar – a celebration for all who want to discover and enjoy the best contemporary poetry. This year, we introduce a fourth category for performed poetry, and shortlisted poets will be invited to perform on the night.

The Forward Prizes recognise achievement in four categories:

  • Best Collection
  • The Felix Dennis Prize for Best First Collection
  • Best Single Poem – Written
  • Best Single Poem – Performed.

This year’s judges read more than 236 poetry collections and 420 single poems to find the most exciting poetry published in the British Isles.
