Breda Spaight

Breda Spaight is a poet from Co Limerick in Ireland. She holds an M.Phil. in creative writing from Trinity College, Dublin. She has received awards and honours for her poems, such as the Doolin Poetry Prize; placed in the Allingham Poetry Prize, The Yeats International Poetry Prize, and the Cuirt New Writing Prize. She has published her work in journals such as Southword, Poetry Ireland Review, New Irish Writing, The Stinging Fly (featured poet), Banshee, and Ambit. Southword Editions in the New Irish Voices Series published her debut chapbook, The Untimely Death of My Mother’s Hens. Arlen House published her debut poetry collection, Watching for the Hawk in 2023. In 2021, she received a Literature Bursary Award from the Irish Arts Council.
