We sponsor the Forward Poetry Prizes as part of National Poetry Day, an annual celebration of poetry. Now in its nineteenth year, prizes are awarded for Best Collection, Best Single Poem and Best First Collection and the short listed poems are published in an anthology each year.

Winning Words puts poetry at the centre of London 2012. We want to know what lines of poetry reflecting the values of the Olympic Games you would most like to see installed on the Prominent Wall in the Athletes’ Village, seen by athletes and officials during the games and by the local community and residents after the Games.

National Poetry Day is the brainchild of William Sieghart of The Forward Arts Foundation to fuel the nation’s enthusiasm for poetry. It’s a licence to be poetic for the day.
