Poet and performer Dave Reeves will be in Gloucester for National Poetry Day giving readings during a conference on Flood Memories at Gloucester Guildhall Arts Centre.
The conference’s full title is ‘Sustainable flood memories and the development of community resilience to future flood risk’ and it marks the end of a project by Professor Lindsey McEwen and her colleagues and will be opened by the Mayor of Gloucester, Councillor Chris Chatterton.
Dave said: “With the theme for National Poetry Day being ‘Water, water everywhere…’ a conference on memories flooding is the perfect place for me to be.”
One of the poems that Dave will be reading was written in Tewkesbury after talking to residents about the floods there and, with a Met Office Severe Weather Warning out for Gloucestershire on Thursday, who knows what else he might write on the day!
Dave, who presents the online literature show for www.radiowidlfire.com, has previously performed at Gloucester Blues festival with his mix of spoken word, bluesharp and button accordion. The event is free, but participants must register in advance online.
